Becky Lyne, one of HHS’s finest ever athletes, is now offering running sessions at Chatsworth Park on Mondays 12.00-1.00 pm, Saturdays 10:30-11:30 am and at Longshaw Estate Thursdays 6.00-7.00pm. She is also offering children’s multi-event athletics in Chatsworth Park (‘Wild Athletics’!) on Saturdays 9:30-10:30am.

It was good to see HHS well represented at the North of England U15/U17 championships and a host of fine performances.
Oscar Bryce had a very successful weekend taking silver in the U17M hammer with a throw of 49.45, bronze in the shot with 13.61and bronze in the discuss with 40.95.
James Lee took the Northern title in the U17M high jump with a leap of 1.90 and Thomas Hughes claimed the bronze medal with 1.85. Thomas also won the bronze medal in the U17M long jump with 5.85, was 5th in the triple jump with 11.13, 6th in the 100m hurdles final in 17.32 and 7th in heat 3 of the 100m in 12.44.
Essa Ahmed finished 4th in the final of the U17M 800m in 2:01.09, having qualified 2nd in his heat in 2:05.23. He was also 5th in the 400m final in 54.51, having run 54.98 to qualify in 3rd place in his heat.
Evelyn Williams was 7th in the U17W long jump with 4.80 and Elaine Williams was 12th in the shot putt with a throw of 8.14. Caitlin Tevendale was 9th in the final of the U17W 800m in 2:33.71.
Tilly Simpson continued her fine season, winning th U15G 800m in 2:13.66, having won the heat in 2:19.32. Tatjana Wilson, moving up an age group, was 6th in heat 1 in 2:31.29 and Saskia Huxham was 5th in heat 2 in 2:31.02. Saskia was also 8th in the U15G javelin with 20.69.
Gabby Craft had a busy weekend, finishing 10th in the U15G long jump with 4.65, 11th in the shot with 8.14, and 7th in the final of the 75m hurdles in 12.60, having run 12.31 to qualify in 2nd in her heat.

The Northern Road Relay Championships are at Birchwood, Warrington on 20th September. Please contact your team manager to ensure that you have been entered before you go away on holiday. You cannot enter has an individual but have to be entered by one of the team managers. The team managers will require the following information: full name, age group entry and athletics registration number.

Congratulations to Erin Lobley won the U11G South Yorkshire combined events league by 33 points and the championship and Lucy Revitt who was second in the U13G combined events championship.

The senior team finished 3rd in the final league meeting at Wakefield to retain their place in Division 3EC. Congratulations to Craig Wolstenholme as team manager who has worked hard to produce teams for each of the meetings and the athletes who have taken part. Many thanks to all the officials and parents who have helped with the team and officiate at the various meetings.

Andy Heyes set a new course record—held by Jason Ward since 2006—for the Sale Sizzler 5k. After a fast opening 1k, Andy had a significant lead and came home to win by a comfortable margin in 14:20.
Ben Beattie finished 23rd in 16:00 with Pete Hodges 36th with a new pb of 16:55.
Hannah Whitelam continued her return to racing finishing 12th woman in 19:18.

Congratulations to Oscar Bryce, Cameron Bell, Caitlin Tevendale, Jacques Etia and Tilly Simpson who helped Yorkshire win the Northern Intercounties championship.
Oscar won the U17M shot with a putt of 12.87. Cameron was 2nd in the U17M 800 A race in 158.51.
Caitlin was 2nd in the U17W B 800m in 2:26.90.
Jacques Etia was 2nd in the U15B 100m in 11.56 and 3rd in the 200m in 23.79.
Tilly Simpson won the U15G A 800m in 2:13.89.
