HALLAMSHIRE HARRIERS
Hallamshire Harriers has been providing athletics
in the city of
Our traditional “White H” on the bright red vest is
recognised and respected throughout the world.
Although best known for
our international middle-distance and endurance runners, the Club competes in
all branches of athletics: including Cross Country and Road Running. Track and Field is not just limited to
distance running, as we have sprints, jumps and throws groups, too. All our coaches are C.R.B. checked and UK
Athletics qualified. We are “Clubmark” accredited: the national benchmark which
demonstrates we provide a safe, quality environment in which children can train
and compete.
Hallamshire Harriers is for all ages, backgrounds
and abilities. As well as Olympic
hopefuls, we have a very successful Veterans section, including internationals
and record holders - plus over 200 Young Athletes. We also have a large contingent of adult
social runners. Often we find that our
Young Athletes introduce their parents into this part of the Club.
The Club operates a number of regular organised
training sessions, to suit all needs.
Tuesday and Thursday
6:00pm to 7:30pm. Cross country & road
running. All age
groups and abilities.
Woodbourn Athletics Centre,
Tuesday 6:00pm to 7:30pm. Track
& Field and middle distance groups Clubnight. All age groups and
abilities.
There is a nominal charge for facility use on
this Clubnight.
Other times at standard venue rates.
English Institute of Sport
(E.I.S.),
Tuesday 6:00 to 7:30pm. Young Athletes Clubnight. Separate sessions for 8-11 years and 11-14
years, giving a grounding in all athletics
disciplines.
Friday (5:00pm-7:30pm). Technical
Events Clubnight for all ages Event Specific coaching
in sprints, jumps/throws and hurdles
There is a nominal charge for facility use on
these Clubnights.
Other times at standard venue rates.
Many coaches also operate additional sessions
beyond the above ones (e.g. week-end runs)
We have special concessionary subscriptions for
Young Athletes and Students, Under 11s, Retired and Families. See the web site for detail of current rates.
All new Young Athlete members (Under 16) receive
a free Hallamshire Harriers T shirt on joining.
As a club we are also involved in the promotion
and organisation of athletics events throughout the city; including the
historic “Hallam Chase,” the “Sheffield Festival of Athletics” and the “Lord
Mayor’s 10k”, as well as regional athletic club events such as the Yorkshire
Road Relays and South Yorkshire Cross Country fixtures.
If you are interested in athletics, whatever your
area or level of ability, come along and see what we offer. There is no
obligation to join until you are comfortable we are right for you.
