YOUNG ATHLETES LEAGUE – MATCH REPORT.
WITTON PARK, BLACKBURN May 20th
2007.
A revised
venue for this, the second of the seasons meetings,
saw HHS young athletes make the trip over the Pennines into
The
meeting was very busy as it was a “double header” with 2 meetings rolled into
one!
Weather
conditions were very favourable with early sunshine and not too much wind –
which was welcome as the track is quite open to the elements.
There was
a strong show for athletes on the track with some sound performances across
disciplines; some personal PBs set and evidence of
good sprints and middle distance performances.
Notable
as athletes of the match were Calli Thackeray (U15)
800m in 2.19.8, Lewis Wake (U13) with a LJ of 4.21m and Sam Barnsley (U15)
making a return to athletics with his 400m in 54.8 – in fact HHS took 3 form 4
positions in the athlete of the Match awards, so a well done to all.
Trudi
Clift (U15) continues her progress in throws with discus (15.35 – G4) and
Lauren Potter (U15) jumping 1.45m HJ.
Despite
all round performances HHS were adrift in the points
league with 286 to the winners
Well done
to ALL competitors and a BIG thank you to ALL helpers and officials on the day.
