Northern Junior Championships, Costello Stadium, Hull
14-15 April 2012

The two days of championships in warm conditions saw some excellent medal winning and pb performances by our junior athletes. The U15 boys were particularly notable, winning 5 medals between them.

U20 women

Calli Thackeray led the U20 women's 1500m from the gun and took the field through at a fast pace and took the silver medal with an excellent new pb of 4:28.91. Hannah Fletcher finished 7th in the final of the U20 women's 1500m , knocking 3 seconds off her pb, with a time of 4:56.23.

U20 Men

Tom Bains was involved in a very tactical U20 men's 1500m with two very slow opening laps. Tom moved to the front with 800m to go and finished 5th in 4:11.32, with a closing 800m of 2 minutes.

U17 women

Emily Fox won the silver medal in the U17 women's discus with a throw of 32.12 and repeated the feat in the javelin taking the silver medal with a throw of 30.05.

U17 Men

Antony Tierney was 5th in his heat of the 100m in 12.1.

Connor Milnes was 4th in the final of the 1500m with a new pb of 4:19.68, while Josh Walton was 7th in 4:30.69, knocking 4 seconds off his previous pb.

U15 girls

Caitlin Tevendalebroke her pb with 2.32.19 to finish 6th in her heat of the U15 girls 800m. Imani Wilson finished 7th in the final of the 1500m in 4:58.90. Elaine Williams was 4th in her heat of the 100m in 13.81.

Elaine Williams finished 13th in the long jump with 4.31, while Evelyn Williams was 12th in the shot (no distance is given in the results). Charlotte Mather was 4th in the discus with a throw of 4.31, with Evelyn Willimas 11th with 18.71. Charlotte was 12th in the javelin with 18.83.

U15 boys

Sam Lawford had a very successful day taking gold ad bronze in the sprints. Sam won the 200m in fine style in 24.25. Sam had earlier come 2nd in his heat of the 100m in 12.13 and then took the bronze medal in the final with 12.05.

Essa Ahmed won the bronze medal in the 800m with an excellent time of 2:02.91 Earlier he had finished 2nd in his heat in 2:09.16.

Aidan Johnson secured the bronze medal in the javelin with a throw of 34.20. Thomas Hughes secured the bornze medal in the high jump, finishing 3rd equal with a leap of 1.60 and the finished 4th in long jump with 5.27. James Lee was very unlucky in the high jump, finishing 4th with a height of 1.60, the same as 3rd place, but losing out on countback.

Oscar Bryce had a very busy day throwing 32.48 for 5th place in the hammer., 27.37 for 6th in the discus and 10.79 for 6th in the shot.
