Vets Retain Yorkshire Road Relay Title, Saltaire On a sunny September morning, the Hallamshire Harriers Vet 40 Team set out to retain their Yorkshire road relay title at Saltaire , Bradford. On leg 1, Darren Newbould got the team off to a decent start bringing us back in 3rd position in a time of 14:44 (3rd fastest time of the day) for the 4.5k lap. Stuart Maycock had a great run and got us back on level terms with 15:32 at the halfway point . John Slate then took over the baton and ran a superb 3rd leg bringing us back in the lead for the first time in 16:05. Could Dean Furniss deliver on the final leg? Yes, he could! The team captain ran a majestic final lap 15:47 to finish first and retain the title . Darren Newbould |
